Agriculture

Canada’s food system based on 2024 data from Federal government sources represents:

  • employed 2.3 million people
  • provided 1 in 9 jobs in Canada
  • generated $149.2 billion (around 7%) of Canada’s gross domestic product (GDP)
  • 189,874 farms
  • farms cover 62.2 million hectares or 6.2% of Canada’s land area

Based on increased difficulty in achieving economic viability of small family farms we developed Growing Centers targeting the $5.4 billion market for local produce and food security. Based on 2023 numbers our data showed a 7000 sq ft Controlled Agricultural Environment (CEA) generating 14X the revenue of a 160 acres in grains.

There are opportunities in agriculture and food security which is our focus in the Agriculture theme.
